Judy has lived at our house since before the children were born.
When Little Son was a tiny thing in his Mama's tummy, Eric and I started calling him Judy.
"But what if he's a boy?" I said. "We should call him/her Dujy."
And we did.
But we still have Judy. Once in a while we call out for her.
It's not a gentle sort of call, folks, it has to be done in a certain way.
You have to shout it at the top of your lungs, (not worrying about the neighbors) and let your voice fluctuate - after taking a deep breath, it's "JUUUUUU-UUUUUUU-UUUU-UUUU-DEEEEEEE!" Cough, cough cough.
The other version of this is to the tune of "Davey Crockett". Do you remember that song? "Da-vey, Davey Crockett! King of the Wild Frontier...." Judy is sung just the same way. "Judy!" (loud and proud, by the way) "Ju-dy Garland! Queen of the Mousketeers!" we sing.
Sometimes she comes runnin'.
We like her to help us.
With chores.
With the children.
She goes with us almost everywhere.
When Trev was a baby, Eric would ask him "where's Judy?" and Trev would just say "I don't know." in an exasperated sort of way.
About a year ago (lol) Trev started getting really frustrated with it - he's particular about certain things, and he started saying "Dad! Judy- is just - a Garlic!!!"
Funny boy.
Yesterday when I reported that someone really needed to come and clean up, I was thinking "Where's Judy???" But then I realized that you don't know her.
Now you do.
Think I'll give her her own category.
She comes in handy.
