October 14

Yesterday was a day filled with lots of gentleness. Though it had it's moments of rowdiness and chaos, of course. The day wouldn't be ours of it didn't, I suppose. sigh.

I've been contemplating what to do with the acorns we gathered with our friends about two weeks ago. I haven't been able to find any crafts for them, so I'm thinking acorn head (with cap), pinecone body, twig arms and legs sitting on fall leaves? What else?
Yesterday we went for a neighborhood walk to gather more signs of autumn. We were looking for interesting flower heads, fallen pods, pinecones....
And we found some beauties.
We plucked a few fruits from a tree that we are not able to identify, also. Everything is actually quite beautiful just sitting in our Gathering Basket - fruits, cones, pods, leaves, and rocks that we collected.
It occurred to me yesterday that I can get some of the moss from downstairs, and we can glue our treasures to a wreath for the front door. I think it would be really beautiful.

While on our walk we also stopped at a little playground - the sun quite charmed us and filled our hearts and heads with warmth. There was a promise whispered to us that He would be available for play - inviting us join Him in romping and dancing the next several days. We missed our friend so, these few days.

At home the children watched Peter Pan while Mama cleaned more.

Last night we introduced Trev (and Maddie) to The Princess Bride -one of my very favorite films. It was pretty humorous how close his reactions were to the little boy in the story. There was lots swashbuckling going on between he and Maddie, of course.
The funniest part was at the end when Inigo kills the six fingered man, and said "I want my father back, you son-of-a-bitch!", Trev started cracking up outrageously, and says "You Soulable Peach! Hahahahaha, that's funny, he called him a soulable Peach!!"
lol
Sweet Little Swashbuckler.

  1. Damek had an idea of what to do with our acorns. Make "acorn aliens". We'll be doing that of course, but I'm up for other suggestions as well:)
