February 15

We had a formal Family Day today.

Usually we do one day a week, but it's been a while. "Family Day' for us means we spend the whoooole day together doing fun things. Often tramping off somewhere.
That's what we did today.

We headed out the door as early as possible to breakfast. While our name was on the waiting list, we walked over to the bookstore. A few beauties to be found there! (Love, love, love that 20% educator's discount. big smooches to b&n for that.)
The book that I am the very most excited about is the Usborne Art Treasury by Rosie Dickens.

It is a beautiful book, and I am soooooo excited to try out some of the ideas! (Whether the babes try them out with me, or not!)

Swimming was on our agenda - the babes and Eric have been planning to go all week.
It was worth all the anticipation.

Off to the Farmington Bay nature area... to see the purported many bald eagles.
They over winter in this area.

We saw Great Blue Herons, and Marsh Hawks,

and a Golden Eagle, Blackbirds, seagulls (of course), Pelicans,

geese... and Bald Eagles.

It was so beautiful out there!

One of those "I'm glad I get to see this while it's still winter" scenes. We're quite enthusiastic about visiting again for all the migrations throughout the year. And it's only about twenty minutes from our front door.

(Shout-out to my friend Julie for reminding me about this event. Thanks so much, Julie!)

It was a glorious day.

  8. Beautiful day you had. It is nice to have family days. Today is actually called Family Day up here in Canada. But once a year is surely not enough to celebrate family. :)
