a mother's day

apple tree, peach tree, oregano for the medicine garden, and new ever-bearing strawberries

garden work

garden love

cutting flowers to bring inside

filling birdfeeders

making nectar for the hummingbirds - they've been spotted

hugging babies that smell of dirt and sunshine

"Happy Mother's Day, Mom," says little Madd.  "And happy living every day."

a mother's day is a very fine sort of day, no?

  1. Such beauty. I wish our weather would have been nice enough for garden work; it was my plan...but too cool. We got lots of work done inside though. Oh, and that last picture - it makes my heart long for a sibling for Isaac. <3

  2. Very fine, indeed.

Do you have any recommendations on books for learning about medicinal gardening and medicine making?

  3. MJ-
My very favorite herbal is Jude's Herbal Home Remedies. It's practical, and has lots of different recipes for lots of different ailments and home stuff. I love it because while many things I do not have access to (living in the desert of the west) I can find a substitute recipe or plant in the book.
It's practical, easy, and very, very helpful for me.
