Here's a simple and easy one.
Maddie and I knew we wanted to make more bowls out of clay (last year we coiled them), so we've gotten busy.
We just flattened out our air-dry clay,

and then cut out our designs.

After that you gently turn it over either a ball or a bowl,

or tuck it into a larger bowl.
When the clay has dried a while - overnight - and is the consistency of stiff leather, it's dry enough to take off of the mold, but do so gently.
It's a good idea to let it dry for another day.
Today we got to paint,
and then we rimmed the bowl with glue, and added glitter.
Ours is sparkling up our winter nature table a bit!

Very cool! We have a huge tub of that air dry clay stuff that Layla has been wanting to dig into. I bet she would love these. Thanks for the inspiration!

ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHave you ever burnished clay? Your pictures made me think of it. Just take the back of a spoon when the clay is at the leather stage and rub it in circles until it's shiny.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought.
Awesome...and Valentine-y!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteLove the finished bowl, especially sparkly with the candle :-)
