Egypt

Trevelyn informed me that we're going to Egypt.
On Sunday. (Daddy's next day off. - He's thinkin', see.)
To "look at a Dead Mummy with the microscope to make a bigger look at it."
I told him that we couldn't, as we would have to travel for about 12 hours on an airplane, and that we didn't have the money that it would cost.
So I offered to get online, and see what I could come up with.
I found this great site that has an explanation of the why and how of mummification. After reading to Trev the beginning statement
"The ancient Egyptians believed that before a person could get to the afterlife, that they had to pass through the underworld."
He shouts "Hey! I know about The Underworld! There are thousands and thousands of creepy
creatures in the underworld!"
Blink.
Exactly right.
"The Underworld was a place that was full of terrifying monsters and dangerous animals. A person would need magic to successfully overcome these threats."

We made our way through the brief process, taking with us spells of Driving Away Beetles, Protection Against Crocodiles, and a spell to Turn Into a Snake. Our chosen spells served us well! We made it into the afterlife.
Next we learned/experienced how to mummify a body. We learned about the salt process, and resins and oils, and hieroglyphs. We were great apprentices, and passed our test the first time! With two mistakes.
Fascinating.
(My Son, as well as the Ancient Egyptians.)
